Ju 寿 Chinese ~ Cloisonné Enamel ~ Floral Scroll Lotus ~ Ginger Jar - * Da Ming

An Elegant and enchanting pattern of Lotus, florals and scrolls abundant throughout body and lid. 

The age and origin is unknown but it appears to be Chinese and from early to mid 20th Century.

Bright enameling of blue, pink, white, red and green. I believe the one shape is a form of some bird. The lid is definitely unique in shape and leaves (seen in green) are not common in the some relatively similar pieces online. It appears that the cloisonne cells may have been formed from a casting as I don't see any soldering of the wires. 

This Ginger Jar isn't easily matched in all detail to the comparable found online. Although the pattern and craftsmanship are similar to others, there are some details unique with this particular one. The intricacy of the metal wires in pattern of the enameling throughout the surface differs from other modern pieces.

The symbol on body Chinese looks to match the sign of Ju 寿、an auspicious character meaning Happiness and Longevity. The markings underneath (at the base) show a symbol for 'Big' and I think * Da Ming or Great Ming but not likely from this era as the typical colors used back then do not match.  I believe this jar is is from before 1950s as the brass has darkened and has obvious patina.

It could possibly been made in the MINGUO PERIOD or the Qing Dynasty. This piece was crafted with more attention to detail (not a direct match to others seen in similar style). 

The opening of the vessel is 5 cm and the overall dimensions are 16 cm high and 13 cm wide. It weighs 322 grams.
